Daniel is a nurse-trained entrepreneur with over 25 years’ experience in health and social care, driven by a passion for delivering outstanding support and creating environments where both people and teams can truly thrive.
As CEO of Calm Futures, Daniel leads a growing group of residential and supported living services across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, and Hertfordshire. A key milestone has been the creation of Daniel Kirby House in Chelmsford — the organisation’s flagship eco-friendly development comprising a six-bed residential home and six supported living flats. Built in partnership with The Wylie Group Construction and named in memory of his late best friend, it is a project Daniel is especially proud of, blending clinical insight, lived experience, and sustainable design.
2025 has been a year of meaningful growth, with the acquisition of New Boundaries Group in Norfolk (nine homes, 120 staff) and Blossom in Hertfordshire (seven services, 127 staff). These expansions have strengthened Calm Futures’ presence and allowed the group to extend its ethos of person-centred, high-quality care into new regions.
Daniel also heads up The Wylie Group Construction, which works exclusively for Calm Futures — building out new services and refurbishing existing ones. He has a strong passion for bringing tired homes back to life, improving EPC ratings, and making homes more energy efficient, ensuring they are both sustainable and welcoming for the people who live in them.
Daniel’s journey in care began in 2008 when he founded Aldanat Care, growing it from a single home into a nationally award-winning provider for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, which he successfully exited in 2020. In 2013, he established Autumn Care, transforming Little Oaks into a boutique elderly care home that set new standards in homely, person-centred support.
Alongside building and leading care organisations, Daniel has worked to support the wider sector — founding the Care Providers Network and holding leadership roles with the Essex Care Association and the Essex Employment and Skills Board. Collaboration, innovation, and raising standards across the sector are values he continues to champion.
Whether it’s developing new models of care, supporting teams to achieve their best, or creating sustainable, future-focused environments, Daniel’s goal is always to deliver lasting positive change.
Outside of work, Daniel is a proud dad to Emilia, Enzo, and Aston — and yes, the car theme was intentional!
